I used to custom paint computer cases a few years ago. During this time, two collectors Ire impressed by my work and inquired if I could apply this same magic to their German Helmet shells. I found the request intriguing and accepted the challenge. These first works so impressed the collectors and myself that it ignited my passion for restoring a piece of history.
My approach to helmet restoration is inspired by historical accuracy, with my work based on original shells. These shells lack their original finish or are post war re-issues, as I will never do work over an original finish. Original liners and other components are employed when available to insure a proper appearance.
As for the refinishing process itself, I am a perfectionist and strive to restore these helmets to their original glory. Each is a time consuming project based on the study of originals for color, texture and even wear. My paints are custom blended to achieve the authentic shades used during the period. The decals are of the best quality available and applied in a correct and permanent manner. Effects such as texture, wear and age patterns are painstakingly applied to create truly outstanding examples.
My techniques and attention to detail set my work apart from some of the hastily done; spray can “fantasy” helmets often seen on the market. For when it comes to helmet restoration you truly get what you paid for.
I do specialize in rare helmets that allow collectors and historians to add often-unobtainable examples to their collections.
I always make time available to speak with customers and invite all questions and inquiries by telephone or email.
